What can GCNS do for you?

The team at Clarks

GCNS is a free service available to Stirling District businesses only. Our aim is to support organisations to access the help they need most quickly. We can:

  • create a Carbon Cutter Plan for your business
  • engage staff on carbon cutting actions
  • help businesses to identify instant changes to how they manage business infrastructure
  • link businesses to carbon reduction support partners & ensure they respond to needs in a timely manner
  • co-ordinate events for businesses with similar issues and needs
  • connect businesses with case studies – preferably local practitioners – to support them in a new activity

We can help organisations identify carbon savings in electricity, heating & cooling, waste, transport, food & procurement. We can ensure that changes and investment in infrastructure are accompanied by staff behaviour changes to maximise efficiencies through greatest buy-in.

Infrastructure Changes

GCNS has already helped organisations in Stirling make considerable savings through managing their infrastructure differently, without any expense being incurred. Our expertise means we can see where energy is being wasted, and our range of experience can give insights into local and national examples of best practice. See Case Studies

Staff Behaviour Change

GCNS helps organisations with staff behaviour change which works hand in hand with infrastructure changes. When staff are trying to change their behaviours, they can often encounter infrastructure problems which prevent those changes. Equally, if staff see their employer investing in infrastructure changes, they are more likely to make behaviour changes themselves. Staff behaviour changes are supported through workplace Carbon Cutter Plans.

Carbon Cutter Plans

A Carbon Cutter Plan is a weekly or monthly plan of smart and easy actions covering all areas of emission – from lighting to transport - which reduce emissions. GCNS can help businesses design a plan to suit the various teams within their organisation. Where needed, we can support organisations in the delivery of this plan.

How do you help us with our goals?

As the programme progresses we hope to see Stirling become a general centre of expertise in terms of understanding carbon reduction in business. We hope that businesses who work with us on infrastructure and behaviour changes will share their knowledge with other businesses just starting so that we always have a pool of shared expertise and a common business voice. We would also hope that businesses share their vision with head offices, suppliers & customers. Finally, there are often policy barriers to reducing carbon – we hope that a united business community will be able to work together and, with us, lobby to remove these constraints.
