GCNS is working in partnership with Stirling Council to make your neighbourhood a cleaner, greener more sustainable place to live in.
Carbon Cutter Plans are being rolled out throughout the council. In fact, the Streetscapes department was the first group in Stirling to embark on a carbon cutter plan!
But the council are doing much much more!
Along with other Scottish local authorities, Stirling has signed up to the Scottish Climate Change Declaration ( this was updated in 2008 - Word Document)
In conjunction with the Carbon Trust, Stirling Council has created a plan to decrease carbon emissions. This plan will be agreed by the Council in 2009. This plan covers many areas of emissions: lighting, heating, waste, travel, etc and has the potential to reduce carbon emissions by 23% over 5 years (and save over £1 million!).
Local Transport Strategy is one area where the council are currently making changes which will help all of Stirling move toward carbon neutrality.
The council are also creating new frameworks for local housing, local development and strategic environment assessments.
Stirling has one of the most advanced councils in terms of waste and recycling solutions for residents. These solutions include the recent introduction of food waste recycling.
